Alerted by their village colleagues, Glen Rock police stopped a minivan at the corner of Glen Avenue and South Maple Avenue after the group was involved in a shoplifting attempt Wednesday afternoon at the Franklin Avenue Stop & Shop in Ridgewood, Detective Capt. Forest Lyons said.

Those arrested included Green, a career criminal now living in Cherry Hill who, records show, has twice served prison time in New York State -- on burglary and grand larceny convictions -- and has a long rap sheet in New Jersey.

Green's Bergen County arrests involve crimes ranging from burglary and fraudulent use of stolen credit cards to resisting arrest and being a fugitive from justice, records show. He also has a history of parole violations.

Green was wanted on warrants out of Carlstadt and New Milford and a detainer from Wayne when he was arrested Wednesday, records show. Ridgewood police charged him with several counts of shoplifting, burglary and hindering his arrest by giving police false ID.

With him was 23-year-old Chantel “Princess” Hurley of Paterson, who was charged with two counts of shoplifting, as well as “wandering/prowling to obtain” drugs and possessing with the intent to use drug paraphernalia. Hurley was also wanted on a warrant out of Carlstadt and detainers out of Dover, Paterson and Totowa.

Hurley has a history of prostitution arrests stretching back more than five years, records show. Two months ago, she was arrested in Paterson on prostitution charges and released pending a hearing that she apparently never showed up for.

A third suspect, Lawrence Brock, 41, of Wayne, was charged with two shoplifting counts, as well as possessing drug paraphernalia with the intent to use it. Brock was wanted on a detainer out of Passaic County, records show.
